Ebonite (Hard Rubber)

Okutsu Mouthpieces are made of ebonite (hard rubber) selected carefully.

The material of which mouthpieces are made effects the color of the sound. I have tested many resin materials, polyacetal and acrylic, and I chose the ebonite.

The ebonite I adopted has the finest quality and is made from natural rubber. It contains no added synthetic rubber or plastics to save the cost and no fillers to increase the hardness.

The ebonite which I adopted makes the tone rich. In my opinion, low quality ebonite makes the sound thin and dull.

Okutsu mouthpieces are crafted carefully one by one from round bars of ebonite during production.
